Madeleine Perring started her musical career as a chorister and subsequently Head Chorister at Wells Cathedral before starting at the Royal College of Music. She graduated from the RCM with first class honours in her Undergraduate degree and more recently with a distinction in her Masters while studying with Rosa Mannion. Highlights from the past year include masterclasses with Sir Thomas Allen in the Britten Theatre at the RCM and with Nicky Spence at Wigmore Hall. She has performed roles such as Despina and Fiordiligi in various opera scenes, as well as 'She' in Dring's operetta Cupboard Love. Madeleine has also enjoyed working as a soprano soloist with the Somerset and Plymouth choral societies, and most recently with the Civil Service Choir in St John’s Smith Square. She is also the recent winner of the RCM Lieder competition, the Charles Wood Song competition and the ROSL Singers Final 2025. Most recently, Madeleine took part in the Wigmore Hall French Song Exchange, performing a recital in Wigmore Hall and Salle Cortot in Paris. She finishes the summer as a Garsington Opera Emerging Artist and an Andrea Bocelli Foundation scholar, alongside her performance in the Royal Over-Seas League Gold Medal Final.
Madeleine looks forward to joining the Royal Academy Opera Studio in September with generous support from both the Drake Calleja Musical Trust and the Countess of Munster Musical Trust, as well as the Josephine Baker Trust. She has exciting upcoming opportunities such as performing in the RAO Production of ‘Carmen’ by Bizet as ‘Micäela’ and joining the Academy Song Circle for performances at Leeds Lieder Festival and Wigmore Hall.
